Weekend Resources November 9, 2025 What Now - What’s in Your Hand?
Use these questions and resources during your study time or with your group.
RECAP: It’s not about seeing the finish line—it’s about taking the next step.” When Moses laid down the staff, stretched it over the sea, and struck the rock—God moved. Each act of obedience released provision, power, and purpose. Your next step of faith may just unlock someone else’s breakthrough.
MAIN POINTS
- Lay it down
- Reach out and grab it
- Learn how to handle it
GETTING STARTED
- What’s the most random thing you’ve ever held onto because you thought you might need it someday?
SCRIPTURE
- Exodus 4:1-5
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
- In the message God’s question to Moses—“What’s in your hand?”—is presented as pivotal. What does that question reveal about God’s way of calling people, and how does the “staff” function symbolically in the passage (identity, income, influence)?
- Tom emphasized Moses’ “what if” fears and how Moses projected his past onto his potential. How does the message help us interpret Moses’ hesitation, and what do you notice about the role of doubt and past failure in this story?
- Throughout the story, God doesn’t give Moses a full plan—He gives him a next step. What does this reveal about how God works in moments of uncertainty or transition?
- When you think about your own life right now, what “what if” fears tend to hold you back from moving forward?
- God asked Moses to lay down what was in his hand before it could come alive. What might God be asking you to surrender so He can use it in a new way?
- If everything you need is already within reach, what’s one practical step you can take this week to move forward in faith?
RESOURCES
- “Low performers ask, “What’s the least I can do and not get caught?” Performers ask, “How can I be good at my job?” …High performers ask, “How do I be the best?”... But meta-performers… They ask a better question: they ask: “What am I capable of?” And in the context of community - like this - “What are WE capable of?” - Jason Jaggard
- “The information you need for the transformation of your life is waiting to be seized by those who will open their eyes to what they’ve been given.” - Steven Furtick
- Closing Prayer: God, thank you for reminding us that you’ve already placed everything we need right in our hands. When we don’t see the full plan, help us to trust you with the next step. Give us courage to lay down what we’re holding onto and faith to reach for what you’re calling us to. We believe you're working, even when we can’t see it. Lead us forward, one step at a time. Amen.
