Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” - Isaiah 6.8
Have you ever been in the back seat of a car with workmates or friends heading to lunch? As you pull out of the parking lot, the question, “Where do you guys want to go?” is typically followed by a too long back and forth, and rarely, if ever, does someone come out and just say it. It seems like the people who should lead out many times don’t, and those that sometimes do will make you wonder if they really are capable.
The long-awaited election is over. Undoubtedly, the lawsuits will begin, and the news industry on the right and left will squeeze their last few dollars of revenue out of an election season that has been so 2020’d.
Leadership. What a loaded word this year.
Leadership. What a loaded word this year.
God has always worked through leaders, and Jesus said, “pray for them.” I wish he woulda said, “just tweet about them,” or “make fun of them,” or “undermine them to get what you need.” But he didn’t. And he said this as one who was viewed as a radical rebel who people thought was going to have a political win and overthrow the very evil leaders His culture was under.
A company, a church, a family, and a country seems to rise and fall on leadership. Leaders need our prayers more than anything else right now. Even as I type this, I am convicted...when was the last time I can say that I prayed for our leaders?

A Prayer for our leaders: God, no matter who is declared the winner of a national or local election, I want to pray for those leaders by name right now. Give me the courage to not talk the winners or losers down at work; give me the wisdom to influence those around me who are looking at me in how I respond. Above all, give our leaders courage, wisdom, empathy, and may the change that I want to see in my company, my church, my country, and even my family...begin with me.
