As local orders are likely to change in the coming days, I’d like to update you on our upcoming plans for later in June.
Our theme during this season will be steps and options. We know that returning to physical gatherings will take steps, it won’t be all at once and it won’t feel like ‘normal,’ but there is still value in taking those steps and learning along the way. Additionally, we really want to make sure that you have options. I asked you to take a survey and more than 400 of you did. Thank you so much for your feedback! We know that there are many of you who are ready to resume physical gatherings right now, even if they are different. We also know that there are many of you who are not ready for that and that’s totally ok. In this phase, we will be encouraging people to continue to stay connected online, and for some, the next step may be a gathering with their community group or neighbors to watch a service and share a meal. Physical gatherings will represent another option for those who are ready.
Beginning the weekend of June 27/28, we will be offering limited in-person services on our campus as we kick off our new series called One Another. Complete details are still being developed, but our weekend environment will be a smaller gathering using an RSVP system, during our normal weekend service times on Saturday at 5 pm and Sunday at 9 am and 11 am.
Between now and then, we will be using the time to learn from churches around the country, continue to prepare our building and make sure we are completely ready for a safe return to physical gatherings.
As I mentioned in my video last week, we will not be the first church in our community to open for physical gatherings. We will learn best practices to make the experience as safe and engaging as possible. I appreciate your patience and understanding as we all get used to this next normal. We will be sharing details as soon as possible, so be on the lookout for further communication from our team.
Grace and Peace,

As May comes to a close, and with it, the end of the school year, and the traditional start to summer, I wanted to update you on our plans for the next month. We know our President has identified churches as essential services. While we agree, we also want to comply with state and local regulations. It takes preparation to ensure safety for all involved, so as we continue to prepare for physical services to resume safely in the future we will head into June by continuing online-only weekend services. We continue to monitor the guidance from the Governor and the Tri-County Health Department and best practices from churches that are beginning to open around the country regarding larger group gatherings. This is helping us as we prayerfully consider plans for the rest of the summer and fall.
We know that certain restrictions are being lifted, and while these may allow for smaller group gatherings, we want to be cognizant of our whole community and our ability to provide age-appropriate content in larger group environments in a safe and healthful manner for everyone.
With that in mind, we would love to hear from you. We know that with a community like ours there are a lot of different perspectives and ideas about the best approaches to move forward. Would you take 2 minutes to fill out this survey? It will help us as we continue the development of our larger re-opening strategy.
This global pandemic is something none of us would have chosen, but we continue to see God use our community to share Jesus by providing new and helpful content, unique digital community, and practical care for you and our broader community. We continue to walk through the long middle of this pandemic with all of you on our minds. I can’t wait for the day to see you all again in person on our campus. In the meantime, let’s continue to show our community and the people around us that Jesus Makes Life Better.
